Track Announces Schedule Change to Meet

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State Track and Field announced changes to the meet schedule for next weekend’s inaugural DeLoss Dodds Invitational. Originally scheduled to run from Jan. 23-24, the meet will be held only on Jan. 24, due to the cancellation of the men’s heptathlon and women’s pentathlon.

The cancellation of the multi-events is the result of a lack of entries in both events, meaning any marks accumulated would not be applicable for qualification to the NCAA Indoor Championships in mid-March. According to the NCAA Division I qualifying criteria (Section 4e), marks will not be acceptable if set in meets that involve “only combined-events competition in which fewer than six eligible student-athletes start or all participants are from the same team.”

The rest of the slate on the track and in the field for next weekend will continue as planned on Saturday, Jan. 24. Competition is expected to kick off with the women’s weight throw at 11 a.m., and continue through the afternoon, concluding with the men’s 4x400 meter relay.
