Mallory in Sixth After Day One of Heptathlon

AMES, Iowa - After the first day of competition in the Bill Bergan Invitational, Kansas State freshman Isaac Mallory stands in sixth place in the heptathlon through four events with 2,573 points.

Mallory opened the heptathlon with a 60-meter time of 7.34 seconds to tally 765 points. He leapt 21-08.00 in the long jump and threw the shot put 35-01.25. Mallory closed the day in the high jump with a mark of 5-07.75.

The heptathlon will be completed Friday during Day Two of the Bill Bergan Invitational and will include the women's pentathlon. A pair of Wildcats will take on the field in the pentathlon in freshman Lauren Garrott and senior Stephanie Hejde.

K-State will finish the meet with a full slate of events Saturday after the mutli-events. The meet will be team scored for the men and women as the Wildcats will take on teams from Iowa State, Missouri, North Dakota, North Dakota State and South Dakota. The men's team from Minnesota is also competing.
