Groves Posts Automatic Mark

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State track and field team began the Sevigne Husker Invitational with another shinning performance from senior thrower Loren Groves.


Groves won the women’s weight throw with a hurl of 70-00.25 posting her second straight NCAA automatic qualifying mark. Chelsie Bonds finished third for the Wildcats at 56-06.75.


K-State also had three Wildcats advance to finals in four events during the first day of the Husker Invitational. Mike Myer won both his heats in the 60 meters and 200 meters. He tied his personal best in the 60M at 6.77 en route to winning his heat and advancing to Saturday’s final. Myer posted a time of 21.51 in the 200M. TiAra Walpool also advanced to the finals in the women’s 200M with a personal best 24.91. Denise Baker advanced to the finals in the 60 meter hurdles finishing third in her heat with a time of 8.87.
