K-State Adds Two Provisional Marks

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State Wildcats concluded action at the ISU Classic on Saturday coming away with four top three finishes and two more provisional marks.

 

High jumper Scott Sellers posted another NCAA provisional qualifying mark with a leap of 7-01.50 to finish third in the event. He tied for first in a three-way tie and finished third by how many attempts needed to clear the height. Liliani Mendez posted the other provisional mark for K-State on Saturday finishing the seeded mile run in 4:45.23 to finish ninth.

 

Also making strong performances for the Wildcats were distance runners Emilee Morris, Megan-Anne Perrin and Alyssa Bellinder. Morris finished third in the unseeded mile run with a personal best time of 5:08.11. Perrin and Bellinder also posted personal bests at 5:11.17 and 5:11.31 respectively. On the men’s side, Alex Umberger also finished the mile in a personal best 4:22.55.

 

Jacob Davies ran in the unseeded 800 meters on Saturday and improved his personal best time by more than five seconds finishing in 1:53.18. Boglarka Bozzay ran in the women’s seeded competition in the 800 and also posted her fastest time clocking in at 2:07.59. Jason Collett ran the men’s 800 meters seeded race and narrowly missed his first provisional qualifying time finishing in 1:50.90.

 

Mike Myer was one of the Wildcats’ top performers on Saturday finishing third in the men’s 60 meters. Myer qualified third in the preliminaries with a time of 6.80 seconds. He repeated the time in the finals to again finish third.

 

The Wildcats will be in action again on Saturday to host the KSU Open. It will be their final meet before heading to College Station, Texas, for the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 27-28.
