Groves Opens Outdoor with Regional Mark

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State track and field team opened the outdoor season strong showings in the hammer throw from a number of Wildcats. Loren Groves posted a regional qualifying mark of 203-11 to win the hammer throw during the first day of the Tulsa Invitational.

Groves was not alone near the top of the leaderboard for K-State. Amanda Boor finished fourth for the women, and Nate Brummet finished second for the men with his throw of 169-02. Ali Pistora and Chelsea Bonds finished sixth and seventh respectively for the women, and Ashton Miller placed fourth for the men.

Only the hammer throw was contested on Friday on the campus of Oklahoma State. The remainder of the meet will be held all day Saturday on the campus of host Tulsa at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. Fans can follow the action with live stats available at
