Wildcats Split Squad for Weekend of Action

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State track and field team will divide into two groups and head different directions for the first time this outdoor season. A small group of distance runners head back to Arizona State to run in the 31st Sun Angel Track Classic, and a mixed group of Wildcats head down High 77 to Wichita to compete in the K.T. Woodman Classic.

Some of the Wildcats are coming off strong performances last weekend at the Jim Click Shootout hosted by the Arizona Wildcats. Sara Stoakes is fresh off her fourth-place finish in the 800 meters with the fastest time in the Big 12 Conference to date this season and will run the 800 at the Sun Angel Track Classic as well. A handful of runners will compete at the K.T. Woodman along with a large group of field athletes. The Wildcats bring a strong group of throwers to the meet again.

Last year at the Sun Angel Track Classic, Jack Sachse finished second in the 800M with a regional qualifying time. He looks to shine again in the same event this weekend. Boglarka Bozzay finished third in the women's 800M and this year will run in the 1,500M.

Wildcats Crack Top 25
The Wildcat men are ranked for the first time this outdoor season cracking the Top 25 this week. After posting strong numbers in multiple events last week at the Jim Click Shootout, the men's team comes in at No. 22 in this week's USTFCCCA Rankings. A number of Wildcats made their season debuts at the meet to help the Wildcats jump nine spots in the performance-based rankings.
