K-State Begins Weekend at John Jacobs

NORMAN, Okla. Kansas State opened competition at the John Jacobs Invitational on Friday night with a distance carnival on John Jacobs Track. All events were delayed by 45 minutes, as severe weather moved through the Norman area.

 

Junior Morgan Bonds was K-State’s top finisher, registering a third-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:12.15. The Hutchinson, Kan., native has a personal season-best and an NCAA Midwest regional qualifying time of 2:07.51 during last weekend’s Pepsi Invitational in Eugene, Ore.

 

Also registering a top-five finish was freshman Beverly Ramos in the women’s 1,500-meter run. The product of Trujillo, Puerto Rico finished in a time of 4:33.66 in her first collegiate 1,500. Ramos regionally qualified in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a school record clocking of 10.41.48.

 

On the men’s side, senior Joe Moore tallied a fourth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a personal season-best of 14:29.90.      

Kansas State will conclude action at the John Jacobs Invitational on Saturday and will also compete with a small delegation of athletes at the UTEP Invitational.
