K-State Continues Competition at NCAAs

SACRAMENTO, Calif. Kansas State continued to compete at the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Alex G. Spanos Track Complex.

 

Adam Fretwell finished two days of competition in the decathlon with a 21st-place finish with 7,058 points. The Houston, Texas, native entered the second day of competition with 3,687 points and ranked 15th. On Thursday, he started the second day with the eighth-fastest time of the competition in the 110-meter hurdles with a clocking of 14.83. The final point total is the third-highest of his career.

 

Also in action on Thursday was sophomore Ashley Reider in the women’s javelin and the women’s 4x400-meter relay team. Reider finished 24th with a toss of 141-09. The relay squad of senior Shunte Thomas, junior Donniece Parrish, senior Monique Coleman and junior Morgan Bonds finished 19th with a time of 3:36.28.

 

Kansas State will have three athletes competing in the finals of the men’s and women’s high jump on Friday. Scott Sellers and Kyle Lancaster will compete at 3 p.m. (PDT), while Kaylene Wagner will compete at 5:15 p.m. (PDT).

 

Friday night’s events, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (CDT), will be broadcast live on CSTV. The final day of competition on Saturday will also be broadcast live on CBS, beginning at 12 p.m.
