Rovelto to Coach Continental Cup

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State track and field coach Cliff Rovelto will again be coaching internationally as he will serve as a team coach at the 2010 IAAF Continental Cup in Split, Croatia, on September 4-5. The Continental Cup, formerly known as the IAAF World Cup of Athletics, will pit four teams against each other with a total of eight athletes in each event.

 

Rovelto will be coaching Team Americas (North America, Central America, Caribbean and South America) that will take on Africa, Asia/Pacific and Europe. Each team will enter two athletes in each event. The two athletes representing their continents in each event may not be from the same nation. For example, former Wildcat Korene Hinds will run for the women’s Americas team in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and is from Jamaica. The other Americas team member in the event is Bridget Franek from the United States.

 

Points will be awarded based on finishing place in each event to determine the Continental Cup winners for both men and women. For more information and to see the entire Team Americas roster visit www.usatf.org.
