ESPN2 to Air NCAA Woman of the Year

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Former Kansas State All-American track and field star Loren Groves recently attended the NCAA Woman of the Year banquet as a finalist for the award, and ESPN2 has announced it will air the event at 4 p.m. Friday.

Groves was one of 10 finalists for the prestigious award from the Division I level. Three female student-athletes were then chosen as finalists from all three NCAA divisions with the winner being announced at the banquet. Prior to the festivities of the banquet, the finalists all participated in a community service project together in Indianapolis.

Groves was a four-time All-American during her career at K-State earning two in both the hammer throw and weight throw. She also claimed three straight Big 12 Conference titles in the weight throw and claimed a Big 12 hammer throw crown.

Throughout her career as a student-athlete, Groves participated in a number of community service projects and volunteered time to read to local elementary students and speak to young girls about body image and the benefits of being active and participating in athletics.

Groves currently is serving as a manager with the track and field team while she attends graduate school studying academic advising and trains professionally.
