Dec. 8, 2011

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State Wildcats will host two days of track and field to open the 2011-12 season at Ahearn Field House this weekend. The action gets underway Friday morning with the annual Carol Robinson Winter Pentathlon. The team will then host the KSU All-Comers on Saturday.

The Wildcats will have a small group of newcomers participating in the pentathlon on Friday, and head coach Cliff Rovelto said he is anxious to see them in action. He also added that the All-Comers meet will be full of upper-level talent making it an exciting day of track and field.

“The pentathlon has a small field for both the men and women but we are very much looking forward to seeing our young and new athletes compete. They have been training well,” Rovelto said. “The All-Comers meet is a full meet with a number of quality performers. Virtually every event has a national caliber type of athlete competing. We are a young team, and it will be interesting to watch all our athletes compete.”

Action starts Friday in the pentathlon at 10 a.m. from Ahearn Field House. The meet begins at 11 a.m. Saturday with field events. Running events start at 2 p.m.
