MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women’s cross country team had their best finish ever on Saturday at the Pre-Nationals Invitation in Terre Haute, Ind. The women’s team finished 10th overall as they finished ahead of nationally ranked Florida on Saturday. Senior Sydney Messick once again led the Wildcats out of the gate finishing 18th with a time of 20:47.4. The senior leader was happy with her team’s performance.

“We put it together well today as a team. It was good seeing how we compare against other schools,” said Messick.

The Wildcats also got a strong performance out sophomore Martina Tresh who finished 22nd with a time of 20:56.5.

Head coach Michael Smith was also pleased with what he saw today. “We did a great job as a whole today. We saw significant improvement from all of our runners.”

The men’s team finished 33rd overall against a tough pack of teams. Junior Armando Del Valle paced the Wildcats crossing the finish line 150th overall in 25:34.7.

The next action for the Wildcats will be on October 30 when they travel back to Stillwater, Okla., for the Big 12 Championships.
