Ramos Honored as Big 12 Runner of the Week

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Big 12 Conference announced Tuesday senior Beverly Ramos is the women’s Runner of the Week for her performance at the Missouri State Classic this past weekend in Springfield, Mo. This marks the second conference weekly award for the Kansas State women's cross country team this season. This also marks the third conference weekly award for Ramos in her career.

Ramos, in her first action this season, ran to a near 10-second victory at the Missouri State Classic, leading Kansas State to back-to-back wins to open the season. Her time of 17:15.9 paced four other Wildcat runners to finish in the top 15 among a field 79 competitors. Ramos was the top finisher for K-State in every race last season and went on to compete in the 2008 NCAA Championships where she finished 55th out of 252 Division I runners.

The Wildcats have a week off before traveling to Brookings, S.D. on Oct. 3.
