MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State men’s and women’s cross country teams will look to build off their successful opening race when they travel to Stillwater, Okla., for the Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday hosted by Oklahoma State. The women’s 6k race will begin at 9:15 a.m and the men’s 8k race will follow at 9:45 a.m.

Head Coach Michael Smith is excited for the step up in competition the Wildcats will see this Saturday and believes this race will show him where his teams are at.

“I think both teams are looking forward to putting on the uniform and challenging some other runners,” Smith said. ”We are also excited to go run our championship race distances.”

The women’s team will be at full strength this weekend with the return of senior Alyssa Bellinder and sophomore Martina Tresch as K-State will bring all 10 of its runners this Saturday. The women will be able to test themselves against stronger competition this weekend and prove they are deserving of their national reputation after receiving votes in this week’s USTFCCCA Coaches Poll. Senior Sydney Messick is up to the challenge after finishing second in the J.K. Gold Classic three weeks ago.

The men’s team will attempt to stay with the pack as they will see stronger competition this weekend with host Oklahoma State ranked No. 2 in the nation. Junior Armando Del Valle makes his season debut after not competing in the J.K. Gold Classic.
