Ramos Honored for Jamboree Performance

IRVING, Texas The Big 12 Conference announced earlier today that junior Beverly Ramos is the women’s Runner of the Week for her performance at Oklahoma State’s Cowboy Jamboree this past weekend in Stillwater, Okla. Ramos shares the honor this week with Lillian Badaru of Texas Tech.

Ramos, who recorded her third consecutive victory for the Wildcats this season, crossed the finish line with a 6K time of 20:30, which was good enough for a personal best and broke the course record by 32 seconds. The performance contributed to a team overall fifth place finish for the Cats in the 25 team university race.

“I knew it was going to be a fast race and that I would have to push myself hard to be successful,” said Ramos. “It’s obviously a compliment for me (setting the record) and it gives me self motivation for the rest of the season.”

With the honor, Ramos now has two runner of the week awards this season and three overall in her career. She was honored earlier in the year for her efforts in the Wichita State Gold Classic on September. 6.

The Wildcats have a week off before traveling to the Pre-NCAA Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., October. 18.
