11 Runners Named to Academic All-Big 12 Teams

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Big 12 Conference announced on Tuesday the Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country teams with 11 Kansas State runners earning this accolade.

Jacob Davies, Kyle Hanson, Sam James, Mitch Loring and Jack Sachse were named to the first team, while Lane Porter was named to the second team. On the women’s side, Laura Lee Baird, Boglarka Bozzay, Sydney Messick, Emilee Morris and Alyssa Bellinder were all named to the first team.

To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled competitions. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

Of the nine athletes to make the list with a perfect 4.0 GPA, Kansas State placed three runners on this list with Sachse, Loring and Bellinder.

Messick and Morris earned their second consecutive first team honors with Bozzay earning first team honors for the first time in her career.

The Wildcats travel to Stillwater, Okla., this Saturday as they compete in the Big 12 Championships.
