Six Runners Named to Academic All-Big 12 Teams

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State placed six runners on the Big-12 Conference Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country team.

Kyle Hanson, Sarah Swenson and Boglarka Bozzay were named members of the first team, while Phillip Banowetz, Lane Porter and Laura Lee Baird earned second team honors.

A total of 157 student-athletes were named to the Academic All-Big 12 team, with only 10 having a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Swenson was among the 10 athletes with a perfect GPA.

Bozzay and Hanson earned first team honors for the second consecutive year. Baird and Porter also were selected to the squad for the second straight year after earning first and second team honors, respectively, a season ago.

To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled competitions. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

The Wildcats travel to College Station, Texas this Saturday as they compete in the Big 12 Championships.
