2013 Academic All-Big 12 Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Five K-State cross country runners earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors. Four Wildcats received first team honors and one garnered second team honors

Senior Fernando Roman was the lone men's team runner to be named to the All-Academic team. On the women's side, sophomore Mary Frances Donnelly, sophomore Paige Kochuyt, and junior Erika Schiller all were on the first team. Junior Laura Galvan earned second team honors. Galvan, Roman, and Schiller earned this honor for the second consecutive year, while Schiller and Roman were one of only 11 student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA

Overall, the Big 12 named 99 student-athletes to the men's and women's first and second teams.

Student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in at least 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests to qualify. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible. 

The Wildcats return to action this Saturday as they head to Waco, Texas, to compete in the Big 12 Championships.
