Ramos to Compete at NCAA Championships

Manhattan, Kan. - Beverly Ramos will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., for the NCAA Championships on Monday, Nov. 24. The race will begin at approximately 11:08 a.m..


Indiana State will host the 31 teams that qualified for the NCAA Championships along with 38 individuals, like Ramos, that were selected at large for the competition. Ramos is one of five Big 12 women’s runners to be selected at large. The athletes will run on LaVern Gibson Championship Course, which Ramos ran a 6K 20:20.6 earlier this season. The time was a career best and the best time recorded in K-State history.


The junior qualified for the NCAA Championships with her sixth-place finish last week at the Midwest Region Championships in Stillwater, Okla.. This is the first member of the women’s cross country team to make the NCAA Championships since Trisha Colbertson did it in 2003.


Ramos has finished in the top-ten in all six races that the Wildcats have competed in. She started of the season with three consecutive first-place finishes at the J.K. Gold Classic, Woody Greeno Invitational and Cowboy Jamboree. The native of Puerto Rico has led the ‘Cats all season, being the top runner in all six events.


With Ramos’ fourth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships this season she earned a place on the All Big 12 First Team, her first in cross country.
