Streak Is Over

K-State’s win over Saint Mary’s was not only the first victory for the Wildcats this season, but it also snapped a five-game opening streak to star t the season. The five-game losing streak was K-State’s longest since April 20-May 1, 2012 when the Wildcats lost eight in a row.


Crooked Frame

The Wildcats’ six runs in the fifth inning on Friday were the most runs scored by K-State in an inning since May 31, 2013 against Wichita State when the Wildcats scored nine runs in the first inning of the game in the Manhattan Regional.


Impact Freshman

Tanner DeVinny has a hit in four straight games, including back-to-back two-hit efforts in his last two games. The freshman has gone 2-for-4 in the last two games – vs. Portland on Feb. 20 and at Saint Mary’s on Feb. 21 – to help him bat .316 through his first five games this season. Over the last three games, DeVinny is batting .455 (5-for-11) with 3 RBI, a walk and a run scored.


Down With OBP

Austin Fisher has continued to reach base safely at an above average pace, including a 2-for-3 performance with a walk and hit by pitch on Feb. 21 at Saint Mary’s. Fisher has a .600 OBP through the season’s first six games and has reached base safely at least twice in all six games this season. His .412 batting average for the entire season is helped by going 4-for-7 (.571) in the last two games.


Moore From Jared

Jared Moore has made two starts this season for K-State, including a 5.0 inning outing on Feb. 21 at Saint Mary’s. It is the first time in Moore’s career he has thrown 5.0+ innings in back-to-back outings. The left-hander threw a career-high 5.1 innings in his first start of 2014 on Feb. 15 at Cal Poly.


Taking Some For The Team

Ross Kivett was hit twice by a pitch on Feb. 21 at Saint Mary’s, giving him four hit by pitches this season and 27 in his career. Kivett is sixth all-time in K-State history with 27 career hit by pitches. He is second among active K-State players in hit by pitches as Blair DeBord has been hit by 32 pitches in his career (fourth all-time), including one this season.


Heating Up

RJ Santigate turned in his second multi-hit game in the last three contests on Friday, going 2-for-4 against Saint Mary’s. Santigate is batting .400 (4-for-10) with two walks and three runs scored in the last three games.


Bee Bringing His "A" Game

Alex Bee, making his second career start, set a new career-high for hits in a game with three on Friday against Saint Mary’s. The catcher went 3-for-4 with an RBI and walk against the Gaels. In each of his two career starts, Bee has at least one hit and an RBI.
