Weekend Baseball Canceled

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The final two games of a four-game series between Kansas State and Milwaukee have been canceled due to snow in the Manhattan area. The games will not be made up.

The two teams were scheduled to meet in single games at 1 p.m., on both Saturday and Sunday, but that changed when a storm dropped between two and three inches of snow in the area Friday evening.

Kansas State swept a doubleheader from Milwaukee on Friday afternoon, winning by margins of 4-0 and 2-1. The first game saw the Wildcats score four runs over the first two innings, while pitchers Ryan Daniel, Robert Hawkins and James Allen combined to shut out the Panthers.

The second contest of the day was a pitcher's duel between K-State's Evan Marshall and UWM hurler Chad Pierce. Milwaukee took a one-run lead into the eighth, but the Wildcats scored once in the eighth to tie the contest and received a walk-off single from Carter Jurica to sweep the twin bill.

Kansas State now turns its attention to conference play as the Wildcats host Oklahoma State, Friday through Sunday, March 26-28. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., at Tointon Family Stadium.
