Edwards Named Preseason Ping! All-American

MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State senior pitcher Daniel Edwards collected his third preseason honor as he was named to the 2008 Ping!Baseball Preseason All-Ping! Team, the organization announced.


Edwards, a third-team selection by the organization, has already been named to the 2008 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason All-American Team and the 2008 Wallace Award Watch List.


Edwards is coming off an outstanding junior season as he recording a school-record tying 11 saves and earned a perfect 3-0 record when taking the decision. The Kingwood, Texas, native tallied a team-low 2.27 ERA and struck out 49 batters in just 35.2 innings while holding opponents to a .173 batting average.


Edwards was named All-Midwest Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), a third-team All-American by the NCBWA and was a first-team All-Big 12 selection by the league’s coaches following the 2007 campaign.
