MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State outfielder Nick Martini picked up his third preseason All-America designation Friday as Baseball America named the junior to its 2011 Preseason All-America team.

Martini, who earned third-team honors from the publication, was the only position player in the Big 12 on the team as he was joined by Texas pitchers Taylor Jungmann (first team) and Cole Green (third team), as well as Texas A&M hurler John Stilson (second team).

The reigning Big 12 Player of the Year, Martini has also earned preseason All-American accolades from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and College Baseball Lineup, while College Baseball Daily rated him as the 29th-best player in the nation.

Martini led the Big 12 with a .416 batting average as a sophomore, including a .433 mark in league play to rank eighth in conference history. The Crystal Lake, Ill., native also finished second in school history with 96 hits and broke K-State marks for longest hitting streak (26 games) and singles (71) last year.

Kansas State begins the 2011 season at Pacific, Friday-Sunday, February 18-20, while the home schedule opens with a four-game series against Western Illinois Friday-Sunday, March 4-6.
