MANHATTAN, Kan. – Due to on-going repairs to the roof of the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn., Kansas State’s two-game baseball series against the University of Minnesota that was scheduled for April 4 and 5 has been postponed to the 2012 season.

As a result, the Wildcats have replaced that series with a two-game set against Cal State Bakersfield, April 25-26, in Bakersfield, Calif., which will turn the season series into a four-game affair. The Cats were already slated to host the Roadrunners in Manhattan a week later, May 3-4. CSUB also had a series with Minnesota canceled that was originally scheduled for March 29 and 30.

K-State hosted Minnesota last season as the teams split a two-game series, with the Wildcats winning game one, 12-6 before the Gophers came back with a 3-0 victory the next day. K-State will complete the home-and-home series with the Gophers by traveling to Minneapolis next season.

The four games this season against Cal State Bakersfield will mark the first time the two schools have met on the diamond as the Roadrunner baseball program is beginning its third year of existence in 2011. Both games at Cal State Bakersfield will begin at 6 p.m. (PT).

The Wildcats, who are receiving votes in both the NCBWA and USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ preseason polls, open the 2011 campaign with a three-game series at Pacific beginning on Friday. All three games against the Tigers can be heard on www.k-statesports.com and www.1350kman.com.

K-State opens its 31-game home schedule with a four-game series against Western Illinois beginning on Friday, March 4. Season and single-game tickets are available through the K-State Athletics Ticket Office as fans can purchase tickets at Bramlage Coliseum, by phone at (800) 221-CATS or online at www.kstatesports.com/tickets.
