After a 2-2 record during its opening weekend in Port Charlotte, Florida, K-State will now travel west for four games in the Big 12/Pac-12 Showdown in Arizona ... The Wildcats will play their first two games at Surprise Stadium, spring training home of the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers, taking on Utah on Feb. 19 and Oregon State on Feb. 20 ... The last two games (Washington on Feb. 21 and Washington St. on Feb. 22) will be played at Sloan Park, spring training home of the Chicago Cubs, in Mesa ... K MART
After the first weekend, the K-State pitching staff finds itself atop the Big 12 leaderboard with 35 strikeouts ... The Wildcats lead Oklahoma (31) for the top spot among Big 12 teams in that category ... The Wildcats are averaging 8.75 strikeouts per nine innings, which beats out the next closest mark among Big 12 teams by nearly 2 strikeouts (T-2nd: Oklahoma State, West Virginia - 6.92) ... Three K-State pitchers are among the Big 12's top-five in strikeouts through opening weekend: 1st - Nate Griep, 7; T-2nd - Corey Fischer and Colton Kalmus, 6) ... Reliever Brandon Erickson is also among the conference's top-10 in strikeouts as he ranks tied for sixth with 5 ... Last season, the K-State pitching staff did not reach 35 strikeouts until the ninth game of the season (Feb. 28 vs. Grand Canyon) ... Wildcat pitchers have accumulated 9 or more strikeouts in three games so far this season, something it did not do a year ago when the group had just 2 games of 9 or more strikeouts.

NEW ERA
With the help of the 35 strikeouts, the K-State pitching staff is also among the top teams around the Big 12 in team ERA with a 2.50 mark that ranks fourth ... K-State held its opponents to 3 earned runs or less in 3 of its 4 games so far this season, including a shutout against Pitt on Feb. 14 ... The shutout by K-State was its earliest in a season since 2007 when the Wildcats blanked Penn State, 5-0, in the season opener on Feb. 16 ... The Wildcats are coming off a season in which it had their most shutouts in a single campaign since 1991 but also had the Big 12's highest team ERA (4.91).

FROM THE PEN
Powering the Wildcat pitching staff is the bullpen, which has a 2.00 ERA (4er, 18.0ip) entering this weekend ... The relievers have 19 of the team's 35 strikeouts while only issuing 6 walks ... They have also held opponents to a .225 batting average against ... Six of the 9 K-State relievers did not allow a run last weekend ... One of those 6, Colton Kalmus, has been moved into the rotation this weekend as he will start on Feb. 21 vs. Washington ... Another, Bryce Ward, became the first K-State freshman reliever to throw 3 shutout innings in his Wildcat debut since Kayvon Bahramzadeh in 2009.

STREAKING FROM 2014 to 2015
A pair of Wildcats have kept alive their respective on-base streaks carried over from last season into the second weekend of 2015 ... OF Max Brown has reached base safely in each of this season's first 4 games, bringing his active on-base streak to 10 games ... OF Clayton Dalrymple ended last year on an 8-game on-base streak and now has extended that stretch to 11 games after reaching safely in his 3 games played in 2015 ... Brown has a hit in each of the 4 games, batting .333 ... Dalrymple walked in his only at-bat on Feb. 13 vs. Iowa as he has 2 walks to go with 1 hit in 3 games (2 starts).

DOWN WITH OBP
1B/DH Steve Serratore went 1-for-3 with an infield single in his K-State debut on Feb. 13 vs. Iowa, but over the final 3 games of the Florida trip, the junior college transfer reached base safely in 7 of his last 12 plate appearances (.583 OBP) ... Serratore, one of 4 Wildcats entering Arizona with a 4-game on-base streak, has reached base safely more than once in each of his last 3 games ... He had his first-career multi-hit game on Feb. 14 vs. George Mason, going 2-for-4 ... Serratore had a .418 OBP as a freshman at Des Moines Area CC (DMACC) while in an injury-shortened 2014, he still managed to post a .442 OBP.

WOLFE ON WALK STREAK
SS Tyler Wolfe made his presence felt in his first games donning a Wildcat uniform by drawing a walk in each of last weekend's 4 games ... Wolfe currently leads the team with 4 walks ... He joins former DMACC teammate Steve Serratore, Max Brown and Carter Yagi as the owners of a 4-game on-base streak ... Wolfe has a .500 OBP so far this season, and he moved up in the lineup from the No. 7 and 8 spots over the first 3 games to the No. 2 spot on Feb. 15 vs. Saint Louis.

ARIZONA QUICK-HITTERS
K-State will make its first trip to Arizona since 2009 when it played a two-game series against Arizona State in Surprise from March 10-11 ... The Wildcats split the two-game set against Arizona State that season, bringing their all-time record in the Grand Canyon State to 3-8.
