K-State Alters Weekend Baseball Schedule

MANHATTAN, Kan. - As a result of weather conditions, Kansas State athletics officials announced Saturday that the weekend baseball schedule against Western Illinois has been altered.

With a more favorable forecast for Sunday, the two teams will be play a double-header beginning at 11 a.m., instead of two games on Saturday as had been originally scheduled. Saturday's schedule now features just one game with first pitch at 1 p.m.

Saturday's forecast calls for a high of 43 degrees with strong northerly winds producing an uncomfortable wind chill in the low 30s. Sunday's predicted high is 53 degrees with wind out of the south.

Kansas State began its series against Western Illinois with a 6-4 win Friday afternoon in front of a record home-opening crowd of 3,192. The Cats received a solid pitching performance from Kyle Hunter, scored four times in the sixth inning and held off a late WIU rally.
