Wildcats Improve in Coaches? Poll

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State baseball moved up to No. 20 in this week's USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll that was released on Monday.

The Wildcats also checked in at No. 21 in this week's Collegiate Baseball poll and No. 30 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Top 30.

The No. 20 distinction by the coaches' was the highest placing by the Wildcats in the poll this season after being ranked No. 21 last week and No. 25 three weeks ago.

Kansas State fell one spot in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30 after being ranked 20th last week, its first appearance in the poll this season. The distinction by the NCBWA was the second-straight week the Cats were ranked in the poll.

K-State hosts Nebraska in a three-game conference series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Tointon Family Stadium. A pregame tailgate will be held beyond the left-field wall beginning at 5 p.m., while the 2009-10 men's basketball team will be honored prior to the contest. The reigning Big 12 Coach of the Year Frank Martin will throw out the first pitch.

Another pregame tailgate will be held on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., prior to the first pitch at 2 p.m. The series finale will at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
