MANHATTAN, Kan. – Jordy Nelson, former Kansas State football All-American and a member of the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Wildcats’ baseball game against No. 7 Oklahoma on Friday.

Nelson, a consensus All-American for the Wildcats as a senior in 2007, caught nine passes for a team Super Bowl record 140 yards in the Packers’ 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. He hauled in the first touchdown of the game, helping Green Bay win its fourth Lombardi Trophy as NFL Champions.

Coming off a win last Sunday over No. 5 Texas A&M, K-State’s baseball team hosts the seventh-ranked Sooners on Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m. The series continues on Saturday with a 2 p.m., first pitch before Sunday’s series finale at 1 p.m.

Friday’s contest also features a pregame tailgate beginning at 5 p.m., in the picnic area beyond the left-field wall. A special Family 4-Pack is available for the game as fans can purchase four general admission bench tickets and four concession vouchers for $40.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Athletics Ticket Office in Bramlage Coliseum, online at or by calling 1-800-221-CATS. The ticket windows at Tointon Family Stadium open for sales one hour prior to first pitch.
