STARKVILLE, Miss. Kansas State senior pitcher Daniel Edwards is one of 45 players named to the midseason watch list for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award, the organization announced Thursday.

Edwards, who was also named to the preseason watch list, was one of just four from the Big 12 Conference as Nick Cassavechia (Baylor), Jake McCarter (Oklahoma) and Travis Starling (Texas A&M) were also added to the list.

The distinction is Edwards’ sixth of the season having been named to the preseason stopper watch list, the Preseason PING! All-American team, NCBWA’s All-America third team, the Brooks Wallace Award watch list and the Roger Clemens Award watch list.

At the conclusion of regular season competition, the NCAA Division I saves leader and four other relief pitchers will be selected as the finalists for the award and will be announced prior to the start of NCAA regional competition. The winner of the 2008 Stopper of the Year Award will be selected by the NCBWA’s All-American Committee and announced on June 4.
