The Wildcats went 3-3 during their six-game road swing, losing the first contest of the stretch at Nebraska, winning their first ever series at Baylor this past weekend, and splitting a two-game midweek set at Minnesota ... Since winning 5 of 6 from April 8-17, K-State is 3-5 over its last 8 games ... Arkansas State arrives in Manhattan winners in 3 of its last 5 games ... After winning a conference series vs. Appalachian State this past weekend, the Red Wolves dropped their midweek contest at Memphis on Tuesday, 8-3 ... A-State is 9-11 on the road this season while K-State is 11-8 at home.

LAST TIME OUT
K-State and Minnesota each logged a shutout in the series split this past week at Siebert Field in Minneapolis as the Wildcats were held to one hit in a 5-0 loss on Tuesday while on Wednesday, K-State bounced back with 10 hits in a 9-0 win ... The Wildcats did not record their first hit of the series until the seventh inning on Tuesday when Tyler Wolfe singled with one out ... Meanwhile, the Golden Gophers had 7 hits, including three for extra bases that helped produce the first 4 runs ... A solo home run in the fifth made it 2-0 while a two-run homer in the seventh stretched it to 4-0 ... In game two, K-State scored 4 quick runs in the first inning with the help of 3 hits, 2 walks, a hit by pitch and a sacrifice fly ... The sac fly in the first was one of 4 by the Wildcats in the game as Sam Chadick (sixth inning), Jake Wodtke (sixth) and Keith Browning (seventh) each plated runs with a sac fly ... Steve Serratore capped the game's scoring with a two-run home run in his home state in the ninth inning ... Five Wildcat hurlers combined for the third K-State shutout this season, led by 3 1/3 innings from starter Brandon Erickson.

FROM THE `PEN
The K-State bullpen, which threw 5 2/3 shutout innings on Wednesday at Minnesota, finished the month of April with a 2.88 ERA (29er, 90.2ip) in 18 games ... The Wildcat relievers were led by a group of 4 who did not allow a run in their appearances throughout the month: Corey Fischer (10.1 scoreless innings), Kyle Halbohn (4.2), Brandon Courville (2.1) and Tyler Wolfe (2.0) ... Four other relievers, Bryce Ward (1.38 ERA), Lucas Benenati (1.84), Jordan Floyd (2.08) and Jackson Douglas (2.25), all featured ERAs of 2.25 or lower in April as well ... Over the last 5 games, the bullpen has a 1.78 ERA (5er, 25.1ip) and a .213 batting average against ... For the season, K-State's bullpen has a 3.44 ERA while the starters have a 4.75 ERA.

FISCHER-NICE
Helping power the K-State bullpen is starter-turned-reliever Corey Fischer ... The junior, a transfer from Madison College, began the year making 6 starts and posting a 1-2 record with a 5.20 ERA ... Since making his first appearance out of the bullpen on March 27 at Oklahoma State, in which he threw 3.0 shutout innings, the right-hander has posted a 0.68 ERA (1er, 13.1ip) in 8 relief outings ... Opponents are hitting .140 against in those 8 appearances ... Fischer has not allowed an extra-base hit as a reliever ... In his last 6 games, Fischer has not allowed a run while surrendering just 2 hits in 10 1/3 innings (.056 batting average against) ... Of his 8 relief appearances, 3 have been 2.0 or more innings, including his last outing on April 25 at Baylor in which he threw 3 1/3 innings.

GAME WARD-EN
Another key piece to the K-State bullpen has been freshman Bryce Ward, who posted a 1.54 ERA in his last 15 relief appearances ... The right-hander, who will now make his first career start this Sunday, threw a career-high 6 1/3 innings on April 26 at Baylor, holding off the Bears as the Wildcats went on to complete a 6-3 comeback win ... The outing by Ward at Baylor was the longest relief outing by a K-State pitcher since April 18, 2008 when Thomas Rooke threw 7 1/3 shutout innings against Texas Tech ... Since April 10, Ward has a 0.84 ERA (1er, 10.2ip) and .135 batting average against in 5 appearances.

BRING HOME WERE-WOLFE
Tyler Wolfe has 6 hits and 2 walks in his last 4 games, batting .353 (6-for-17) over the stretch, all of which has helped him carry a nine-game on-base streak into this weekend's series ... The junior has a .425 OBP over the nine-game on-base streak, which is a career-high ... If he extends the stretch to 10 games, Wolfe would become the seventh different Wildcat to log an on-base streak of 10 or more games this season ... Wolfe has a .449 OBP in Big 12-only games, which is the fourth-best mark in the conference.

ON FIRE
Coming off his last game in which he registered a career-high 3 RBIs and hit his first career home run, Steve Serratore enters this weekend batting .342 (13-for-38) with 3 doubles, a home run and 9 RBIs in his last 10 games ... The redshirt sophomore has 5 of his 9 multi-hit efforts this season over his last 10 games, including 2 in his last 3 ... Serratore is fourth on the team in hits (37) and tied for second in RBIs (23).
