K-State's Big 12 Championship Schedule Set

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Game times for Kansas State's three games of Pool 2 play in the 2010 Big 12 Championship have been set as the conference office announced the championship lineup Sunday afternoon.

Kansas State, the No. 3 seed in the championship, will travel to Bricktown Ballpark for the fourth-consecutive season after appearing as the No. 8 seed in 2007, the No. 7 seed in 2008 and the No. 4 seed in 2009.

The Wildcats begin play against No. 6 seed Baylor at 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. K-State swept the regular-season series from the Bears in a trio of close ballgames. The Cats won Friday and Saturday by the same 5-2 scores before taking the Sunday game, 3-2, en route to the sweep. This year marks marks the third-straight season the Cats will hook up with the Bears in the Big 12 Championship, with K-State taking each of the first two meetings.

Following a day off on Thursday, Kansas State will be back in action against No. 7 seed Kansas at 3 p.m. on Friday. Kansas State took the regular-season series in come-from-behind fashion as the Cats won in Lawrence in the first ballgame by a count of 5-4. KU lead 2-0 until a four-run Wildcat sixth inning sent the Cats to the series-opening win. After KU took the second game, 7-3, K-State came out on Sunday and, thanks to a Nick Martini two-RBI single in the bottom of the sixth, the Cats erased a 3-0 deficit to win 8-5.

Kansas State's final game of pool play will be on Saturday as the Cats take on second-seeded Oklahoma. The Sooners won the regular-season set against K-State with a 14-3 win on Friday before a 15-11 rubber-match victory on Sunday. The Cats were able to pick up one win in Norman, a 14-9 victory on Saturday.
