Baseball Signee to Play for Team USA

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State baseball signee Wade Hinkle will represent the United States in the 2010 Honkbal Tournament in Haarlem, Netherlands, later this month as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Star Team.

Hinkle, an infielder from Chochise College in Arizona, was one of 24 players nationally selected to play for Team USA in the 25th anniversary of the Honkbal Tournament, which is contested every other year. Team USA will be defending its 2008 title beginning July 9 at Pim Mulier Stadium.

A first baseman from Albuquerque, N.M., Hinkle hit .378 with 16 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 67 RBI in 59 games this past season for the Apaches. He led the Arizona Community College Athletic Association (ACCAA) in RBI, while he was fifth in doubles and 10th in average. For his efforts, he was a first team All-ACCAA and NJCAA All-Region I honoree.

Hinkle will travel to Tampa, Fla., on July 4 for three days of practice at the University of Tampa before the squad departs for the Netherlands on July 7. The event is a round-robin format with Team USA playing Chinese Taipei on July 9. The consolation and championship round will be held July 16-18.
