Meyer Named TCL Player of the Week

Mitch Meyer led K-State with 20 RBI over the final 17 games of the 2013 campaign

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State outfielder Mitch Meyer was named the Texas Collegiate League (TCL) Player of the Week after beginning the summer on fire for the East Texas Pump Jacks.

Meyer, a junior for the 2014 season, is hitting .419 (13-for-31) with a double, three home runs and 11 RBI in his first eight games of the summer season. He has four multi-hit games, including consecutive three-hit performances against the Woodlands Strykers (June 28) and Texas Marshals (June 30).

In just his second game of the summer, Meyer hit a pair of home runs and recorded in five RBI in a seven-inning game. His seventh-inning solo homer tied the contest at 1-1 before a walk-off grand slam the next inning.

In 53 games during the 2013 season, Meyer hit .281 with five doubles, five triples, four home runs and 34 RBI. He shined towards the end of the year by recording a team-leading 20 RBI over the final 17 games, including three in the series finale at Kansas, two in each of the first two regular-season games against Oklahoma and three more in the NCAA Manhattan Regional opener against Wichita State.
