Hinkle to Play in CCL All-Star Game

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State first baseman Wade Hinkle has been selected to play in the California Collegiate League All-Star Game, which is scheduled for an 8 p.m. (CT) first pitch Wednesday at Casey Stengel Field in Glendale, Calif., and will be televised by FSN.

The California Collegiate League (CCL) All-Star Game features the league’s top 54 prospects divided among two teams, the Americans and the Nationals. Hinkle, who will play for the Nationals, was hitting .255 with four doubles and seven RBI through 14 games for the San Luis Obispo Blues at the time of his selection.

A senior for the 2012 season, Hinkle is the second Wildcat to play in the CCL All-Star Game as Mike Kindel was selected during the summer of 2010.

Hinkle concluded his first season at K-State with a .308 batting average with 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 27 RBI. The Albuquerque, N.M., product saw time in 43 games, including 41 starts.
