MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State sophomore catcher Blair DeBord was named to the National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series All-American Team, the organization has announced.

DeBord, playing for the Topeka Golden Giants in the event that ran from July 30 to August 13 in Wichita, Kan., went 5-for-13 with one double, a triple and one RBI to go along with three walks and five runs scored in four games. He was 3-for-3 with a double on August 5 in a win against Nevada, while the Manhattan, Kan., product recorded a 2-for-3 outing with a triple, one RBI and three runs scored on August 7 against eventual champion Santa Barbara.

The Golden Giants won their first two games of the NBC World Series before two straight losses eliminated Topeka from the field.

DeBord redshirted the 2011 season after he was the team’s designated hitter for a majority of his freshman season of 2010. He started 40 games in 2010, finishing the year with a .340 batting average with 13 doubles, two homers and 22 RBI. His .340 batting average was just six points shy of the K-State freshman record.
