Wildcats Prevail in Overtime against North Florida, 79-68

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Playing in its second consecutive overtime game, Kansas State rallied past North Florida to win 79-68. The Wildcats were led by Thomas Gipson who recorded his third career double-double, with a game high 12 rebounds and career high 23 points.

Aside from Gipson, the Wildcats had three other players with double digit scoring. Jamar Samuels and Will Spradling scored 12 points each, while Rodney McGruder added 10. The trio had five rebounds each, with Spradling dishing nine assists.

K-State went into the half with a 32-25 lead. Adrian Diaz scored the Wildcats last six points of the half which included a thunderous dunk off of a pass from Spradling. The Wildcats shot 40 percent from the field including 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.

The Ospreys came out shooting in the second half, as they used a 24-8 run to take a 49-40 lead with 8:36 remaining in the game. K-State trailed for much of the second period but battled back towards the end. A crucial Spradling jumper tied the game at 55 with 4:05 left. Both teams traded baskets until Spradling made a three-point shot to give the Wildcats a 60-58 lead with 19 seconds remaining. UNF's Jimmy Williams made a last second layup to send the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, K-State took control as it used an 11-4 run, capped off by four straight points from Angel Rodriguez. With the win, K-State improves to 6-1 on the season. UNF's Williams and Parker Smith led their team with 13 points each.

The Wildcats continued its dominance in the paint this season, outscoring UNF 46-43. The Wildcats have outscored all opponents this season in the paint.

K-State returns to action when it travels to Kansas City to play in the Hy-Vee Wildcat Classic against Alabama on December 17. The game can be seen live on ESPNU at 9 p.m.
