Brown, Wildcats Tame Cougars 99-68

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Sophomore Fred Brown scored a game-high 26 points off the bench to lead Kansas State over Chicago State 99-68 on Monday night.

Brown led six players in double figures for Kansas State, while senior Darren Kent collected his fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and a team-high 12 reboubnds.  Jacob Pullen added 12 points for the Wildcats (11-3).

David Holston led Chicago State (8-8) with 18 points. John Cantrell and Carl Montgomery added 12 points each.

The Cougars kept the game close in the first half before a basket by Pullen sparked a 22-2 Wildcat run that put Chicago State away for good.

Leading 49-31 at halftime, Kansas State made the most of the Cougars' foul trouble in the second period. Chicago State committed its 10th team foul with 15:52 left to play and the Wildcats capitalized on the opportunity, hitting 20-of-23 free throw attempts.
