Former lettermen Darren Kent will be among the former lettermen in attendance for Legends' Reunion

Jan. 26, 2012

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State will host its annual men's basketball Legends Reunion this weekend, highlighted by return of all-time great and former head coach Lon Kruger.

Kruger will be leading his Oklahoma Sooners (12-7, 2-5 Big 12) into Bramlage Coliseum for a 6 p.m. tipoff against the No. 22/24 Wildcats (15-4, 4-3 Big 12) on Saturday night.

It will be Kruger's first visit to Manhattan as a visiting head coach after serving his alma mater as a player (1971-74), assistant coach (1977-82) and head coach (1986-90).  He has not coached on the Bramlage Coliseum floor since his last game as head coach -- an 80-57 win over Nebraska on March 3, 1990.  He did return to the arena in 2006 to see his jersey retired.  His Sooner coaching staff includes a pair of K-State graduates in all-time assists leader Steve Henson and former basketball manager Mike Shepherd.

Reunion festivities kick off on Friday evening with a social event from 5-8 p.m. in the Legends Room of Bramlage Coliseum with current players and coaches.  The group will also gather from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Legends Room prior to tipoff of Saturday's game.  A cash bar and hors'd'oeuvres will be available at both events.  Legends' attendees are asked to enter through the Northwest entrance of the arena.

Membership to the Legends Club can be purchased for as low as $100 and includes an invitation to the Legends Reunion, two tickets to the game and a newsletter with updates on the current team.  Those former lettermen interested in joining should contact Amanda Steffens in the men's basketball office at (785) 532.6531 or via email at asteffens@kstatesports.com.

Kansas State has won three in a row in Big 12 play, including back-to-back road wins at Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, since an 82-73 loss at Oklahoma on Jan. 14.  The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) will be hosting its second annual Tipoff for TP event on Saturday, in which, members will be collecting toilet paper, paper towels and trash bags to donate to the Manhattan Emergency Shelter.

A limited number of tickets are still available for Saturday's contest.  Please call the Athletics Ticket Office at (800) 221.CATS or visit www.kstatesports.com/tickets.  Tickets are priced at $60 (bench) and $70 (chairback/cushion).
