Wildcats Soar Over Eagles

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Dominique Sutton scored 16 points and Luis Colon had 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead Kansas State over North Carolina Central 95-49 on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats (18-8) played without leading scorer Denis Clemente, who was suspended for one game by coach Frank Martin for an altercation in Saturday's 85-74 loss to Kansas. In his absence, the Wildcats had six players score in double digits. It was the second time this season K-State has had six in double figures after accomplishing the feat against Chicago State on January 5.

K-State also had its highest shooting percentage of the year making 60.3-percent of its field goals. The mark bested the Wildcats' previous season-high of 59.7-percent against Gardner-Webb on December 14.

Jamar Briscoe led North Carolina Central (2-24) with 18 points. Bryan Alaya added 10.

Kansas State opened the game on a 14-5 run and led 46-24 at halftime. It was the 19th time this season the Wildcats have led at the half and the team is 17-2 in those contests.

The Eagles never threatened in the second half, and the Wildcat defense held them to one field goal in the final 7:38.
