Ojeleye Named To Academic All-Big 12 Team

Junior Victor Ojeleye was named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team on Friday.

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State junior forward Victor Ojeleye was among 12 players named to the 2011 Academic All-Big 12 Men’s Basketball First Team as announced by the league office on Friday.


A native of Ottawa, Kan., Ojeleye was named to the first team for the second straight season.  He has seen action 22 of the team’s 26 games, averaging 2.0 points on 46.2 percent shooting with 1.7 rebounds in 8.8 minutes per game.  He scored a career-best 12 points against North Florida on Dec. 31, 2010.    


Nominated by each institution’s director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the academic all-league men’s basketball team consisted of 12 first team members combined with nine on the second team.  First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.


To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his team’s scheduled contests.  Freshmen and transfer are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.  Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
