Frank Martin Camps Return This Summer

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State men’s basketball program will offer camps this summer for area youths on the university campus.

 

Head Coach Frank Martin and his staff will direct these camps, which include the Future Wildcat Day Camp and Powercat Day Camp on June 1-4, the Elite Camp on June 7-8, the Father-Son Camp on June 19-20 and the Overnight Camp on June 21-24.  The camp will include direction from current K-State student-athletes and area college and high school coaches.

 

The two Day Camps kick off the summer camp season, as they run from June 1-4 for kids and kindergarten through eighth grade.  The Future Wildcat Day Camp, which is designed for youngsters entering K through third grades, runs from 8:30 am to noon.  The Powercat Day Camp, which is intended for kids in fourth through eighth grade, runs from 1 to 5 p.m.  The primary emphasis will be basic fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and defense.  The cost is $80. 

 

The third annual Elite Camp is designed for the best players in the state of Kansas and top players throughout the country.  It is for players entering the ninth through 12th grades and un-signed junior college players in the fall of 2009.  Registration is from 2-3 p.m. on June 7 with a camp meeting beginning at 3:30 p.m.  All meals and lodging will be provided.  The cost is $50 for each camper.

 

The Father-Son Camp offers fathers and sons (ages kindergarten through eighth grade) a great opportunity to spend a special weekend together on June 19-20.  Emphasis will be on teaching fundamentals to the fathers, who in turn teach them to their son.  Space is limited to the first 100 Father and Son pairs who sign up.  The cost is $200 per pair and $70 for each additional child.

 

There will be an Overnight Individual Camp on June 21-24 for kids entering grades 3-12.  The primary emphasis will be on developing fundamental skills in shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding and defense.  Skills will be taught through instructional stations, 3-on-3 games and 5-on-5 games.  The camp also features daily skills competition and instruction from K-State coaches and players.  The cost is $350 per person for overnight campers and $250 for commuters.
