Early-Bird Special for Basketball Renewals

MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State is offering fans a chance to save money with an early-bird online special for basketball season ticket renewals, athletics officials announced today.

Fans will save $15 on handling fees between now and July 3 when renewing their men’s and women’s basketball season ticket online at www.k-statesports.com.  In addition, those who pay with echeck will receive an extra $5 discount.  These discounts are only available for web-only renewals and do not apply to phone, in-person and/or mailed renewals.

In an effort to reduce paper usage and be more environmentally friendly, K-State will not mail season-ticket renewals in the month of June to encourage web-based payments.  After July 3, those who have not renewed will receive a form in the mail with the final renewal deadline set for July 24.  Handling fees will be $25 per account following the discount period.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our fans to save money through the online renewal process,” said associate athletics director Kurt McGuffin.  “We encourage our fans to Be Purple, Go Green’ as we strive to reduce our paper usage.  It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Kansas State is coming off a banner year in basketball as both squads advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the same season in more than 20 years.  The Wildcat men posted a 21-12 overall record, including a third-place finish in the Big 12, while earning an NCAA bid.  The Wildcat women tallied a 22-10 overall record and 13-3 mark in the league to claim its second Big 12 regular-season championship.

Both programs return significant experience for the 2008-09 season with the men returning eight letterwinners, including six with starting experience, and the women return four starters from its championship team.
