MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State’s men’s basketball team will receive their 2013 Big 12 Conference Championship rings during tonight’s football home opener with North Dakota State at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

The nine returning members of the team – Thomas Gipson, D.J. Johnson, Omari Lawrence, Shawn Meyer, Brian Rohleder, Ryan Schultz, Shane Southwell, Will Spradling and Nino Williams – as well as the winningest senior class in school history – Jordan Henriquez, Martavious Irving and Rodney McGruder – will receive their championship rings at the end of the first quarter from athletics director John Currie and reigning Big 12 Coach of the Year Bruce Weber.

Henriquez, Irving and McGruder all flew back to Manhattan to receive their rings from the school’s first conference championship in 36 seasons. The trio, which totaled 101 wins in their four-year careers at K-State, is just the second senior class in school history to advance to four consecutive NCAA Tournaments. Henriquez and McGruder have both been invited to NBA training camps in Houston and Oklahoma City, respectively, while Irving is still exploring his professional options overseas.

Designed by Balfour, the championship rings have a Powercat logo on the top surrounded by the wording “2013” and “Big 12 Champions.” The Big 12 Championship trophy is engraved on one side of the ring with the NCAA 75th anniversary on the other. The player’s name and number, along with the team record, is also incorporated into the design.

Kansas State enjoyed one of its best men’s basketball seasons in 2012-13, posting a 27-8 overall record and 14-4 mark in league play en route to their first-ever Big 12 regular season championship and a fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. The 27 wins were the second-most in school history, while the 14 in league play tied the school record held by the 1958-59 team. The league championship was the 18th in school history and the first since the 1976-77 season.
Season tickets for the 2013-14 season are currently on sale through K-State Athletics Ticket Office and can be purchased a variety of ways, including toll free at (800) 221.CATS (2287), online at and in-person at Bramlage Coliseum.
