Tickets for WVU, Alabama Games on Sale Sept. 9

K-State will play a non-conference game at the Sprint Center for the fifth consecutive year in 2011 when it meets Alabama on Dec. 17.

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Tickets for Kansas State’s highly-anticipated matchups with West Virginia on Dec. 8 at INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita and Alabama on Dec. 17 in the Sprint Center in Kansas City will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m., Friday, athletic officials announced today.

The Wichita Wildcat Classic, which pits K-State against former head coach Bob Huggins and his Mountaineers, is set for an 8 p.m. CT tipoff, Thursday, Dec. 8 at the 15,194-seat INTRUST Bank Arena.  The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.  Tickets will go on sale Friday morning at and  Fans can also order through the K-State Athletic Ticket Office at (800) 221.CATS and at beginning on Friday morning.

Tickets are priced starting at $18 for the general public for the Wichita Wildcat Classic.

Opened in 2010, INTRUST Bank Arena is located in the heart of downtown Wichita.  It will mark the third men’s college basketball game in the 15,194-seat arena, following the Dec. 21, 2010 contest between Wichita State and Tulsa and a November game between the Shockers and UAB.  The arena hosted the First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship last March.

The contest with West Virginia will mark the Wildcats’ first regular-season neutral site game in Wichita since playing in the NCAA Tournament in March 1968.  Overall, it will be the school’s 20th all-time contest in the city, which includes 15 games against Wichita State and four in the NCAA Tournament at Levitt Arena.  The school’s last regular season game in Wichita came in a 79-66 win over the Shockers at the Kansas Coliseum on Dec. 7, 2002.

The Hy-Vee Wildcat Classic is set for Dec. 17 at the Sprint Center and will match K-State head coach Frank Martin against longtime friend Anthony Grant of Alabama.  The contest will tip at 9 p.m. CT on ESPNU.  Tickets for the Classic will go on sale Friday through all Ticketmaster outlets, by calling (800) 745.3000 or online at  Fans can also order through the K-State Athletic Ticket Office at (800) 221.CATS and at beginning on Friday. 

Tickets are priced at $50 for lower-level sideline seating, $30 behind the baskets, $20 for the upper level sidelines and $10 each behind the baskets in the upper level for the Hy-Vee Wildcat Classic.

The game with Alabama marks the fifth consecutive year that the Wildcats will play a non-conference game at the 18,897-seat Sprint Center, which will also host the squad for the 2012 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championships, March 7-10.

K-State season ticket holders who ordered tickets to the Wichita Wildcat Classic and the Hy-Vee Wildcat Classic with their renewals will have their seats assigned according to the Priority Points system from locations held prior to tickets being put on sale to the public.
