KC Catbackers To Hold Basketball Banquet Sept. 27

MANHATTAN, Kan.
– Head coaches Frank Martin and Deb Patterson will be the featured guests at the annual Kansas City Catbackers’ basketball banquet held Tuesday, Sept. 27 from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Ritz Charles in Overland Park.

Martin will be joined at the event by associate head coach Brad Underwood and juniors Rodney McGruder and Jordan Henriquez and sophomores Shane Southwell and Will Spradling.  Along with Patterson, the women’s contingent will include associate head coach Kamie Ethridge, operations director Danielle Zanotti as well as seniors Branshea Brown and Jalana Childs, junior Katya Leick and freshman Heidi Brown.  Leick is sitting out this season after transferring from Nebraska, while Brown is a rookie from Plains, Kan.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner starting at 6 p.m.  The program will begin around 6:45 p.m. 

There are a number of pricing options for fans who want to attend the banquet.  The White Level is $30 and includes admission and dinner, the Gray Level is $50 and includes admission and premium seating for dinner, while the Purple Level is $75 and includes admission, premium seating for dinner and a Powercat Reception from 5-7 p.m., with members of both teams and the athletics department.  The Powercat Reception will include appetizers and an open bar.  There is also a $10 standing room only ticket.

In addition to comments from the teams, the organization will also honor All-American Tammie Romstad and Underwood.  Romstad, who had her No. 33 jersey retired in 2009, was a multiple All-American during her playing days from 1979-82 and still ranks among the Top 10 in both points (1,548) and rebounds (779).  She also helped the Wildcats to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1982.  Underwood was a two-year lettermen at Kansas State from 1984-86 under legendary head coach Jack Hartman.  He is currently in his sixth season on the coaching staff and was recently promoted to associate head coach.    

Fans will be able to bid on several items prior to the banquet, including a pair of tickets to the men’s and women’s games with Kansas as well as honorary men’s and women’s coach packages.
