Hoop Squads To Hold Open Practices

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Fans will get their first glimpse of the Wildcat basketball teams in the coming weeks, as the men's and women's squad hold open practices at Bramlage Coliseum.

The practices will be held prior to the next two home football games and will be free and open to the general public.  Fans are asked to enter the arena through the northeast and northwest corners.  The women's team will hold its open practice prior to the Texas A&M game on Saturday, Oct. 17, while the men's team will have its open scrimmage prior to the Colorado contest on Saturday, Oct. 24.  Following each practice, the teams will be available for autographs for a limited time period.

With a 6 p.m. kickoff for the Texas A&M contest, doors to the arena will open at 3 p.m. for the women's practice with autographs to go from 4-4:30 p.m. on the court.  There will be a number of promotional activities planned for the open practice, including a drawing for a free women's basketball season ticket.  Any fan who attends the practice will receive a "buy one, get one free" ticket voucher good for any women's non-conference game.

With an 11:30 a.m. kickoff for the Colorado football game, the Bramlage Coliseum doors will open at 8:45. The scrimmage will take place from 9-9:30, with an autograph session from 9:45-10:30 on the concourse.

In addition to watching the Wildcats in action, fans will have the opportunity to choose their season ticket location for both men's and women's basketball for the upcoming season.  Available seats will be marked in sections 2-17 (men) and 3-15 (women) of Bramlage Coliseum during the practices with members of the Fan Experience and Sales staff available to assist fans with season ticket purchases.

Season tickets start at only $78 for the women's season and only $320 for the men's season.  Young alumni who have graduated from K-State with their undergraduate degree since May 2005 can purchase men's basketball season tickets for only $160.  Less than 1,000 season tickets remain for the men's 17-game season.

Fans will also have the chance to pick up the men's and women's basketball team posters as well as schedule cards at the events.

The squads, which officially start practice on Friday, Oct. 16, will open their exhibition schedule in early November.  The women's team will host Fort Hays State on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m., while the men's team will host Pittsburg State on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m.
