Madness begins Friday in Manhattan

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State men’s and women’s basketball team will tip off the 2006-07 campaign on Friday evening by hosting “Madness in Manhattan” at Bramlage Coliseum.

 

The event is free and open to the general public.  Doors to the coliseum will open at 10:25 p.m. with activities set to begin around 10:45 p.m. 

 

Activities will begin with performances by Willie Wildcat, the Classy Cats, the cheerleading team and the K-State marching band prior to the introduction of the men’s and women’s squad with a laserlight show.  Following the official unveiling of the Wildcats’ new uniforms, the men’s team will have a dunk contest followed by a 20-minute scrimmage.  To conclude the evening’s festivities, first-year men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins will address the crowd.

 

Fans will also have a chance to win prizes and participate in contests as well as pick up team posters and schedule cards at the event.

 

The event will begin “Wildcat Weekend” activities in Manhattan, as Saturday the volleyball squad hosts Oklahoma at Ahearn Field House at 1 p.m. prior to the football team’s battle with nationally-ranked Nebraska at Bill Snyder Family Stadium at 6:10 p.m.

           

The basketball teams will host their only exhibition games of the season at Bramlage Coliseum on back-to-back days in early November.  The men’s squad will host Washburn on Saturday, Nov. 4 at a time to be determined, while the women’s team will play Emporia State on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m.
