Wildcats Raid Vikings, 69-59

CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP)Denis Clemente scored 16 points as Kansas State took an early lead and held off a late Cleveland State rally to win 69-59 Saturday night.

The Wildcats (4-0) closed the first half with a 15-3 rally to go up 35-23 at halftime.

Cleveland State (1-2) got to within three on Eric Schiele’s layup with 11:34 left. But Jamar Samuels made a pair of free throws and Darren Kent hit a 3-pointer for Kansas State and the Vikings couldn’t get as close again.

Samuels and Jacob Pullen each scored 15 points, and Kent added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats.

Norris Cole scored 17 points, J’Nathan Bullock had 11 and D’Aundray Brown 10 for Cleveland State, which shot just 21.4 percent in the first half but used 53.6 percent shooting in the second to threaten.
