The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 at 2:30 p.m. CT with Carter Blackburn and Sean Farnham on the call.

Both schools head into Saturday’s contest on significant winning streaks, as the defending West Coast Conference champion Bulldogs (10-1) have won six consecutive games since their lone loss to Dayton at the EA Sports Maui Invitational on Nov. 25, while the defending Big 12 champion Wildcats (7-3) are winners of five in a row, including a 72-43 victory over Troy on Sunday.

The defensive-oriented Wildcats will have a challenge ahead of them against Gonzaga, which brings one of the top offensive teams in the country to Wichita. The Bulldogs are averaging 87.5 points on 52.6 percent shooting, including 44.4 percent from 3-point range, this season. The squad ranks among the nation’s Top 5 in field goal percentage, 3-point field goal percentage and total 3-point field goals made (100), while they are 11th nationally in scoring offense and 13th in scoring margin (+16.7). Senior Kevin Pangos paces three players in double figures at 18.7 points per game.

K-State, which has held seven of its last nine opponents to its season-low in points, currently ranks among the nation’s Top 10 in scoring defense (59.4 ppg.) and 3-point field goal percentage defense (27.8).  During the team’s current five-game winning streak, the Wildcats have held their opponents to just 51.0 points on 36 percent shooting, including 22.7 percent from 3-point range, to go with a +12.8 rebounding advantage.

Dynamic freshman guard Marcus Foster leads a balanced K-State offense at 14.4 points per game to go with a team-high 22 3-pointers. He ranks among the Big 12 leaders in a number of categories, including fifth in 3-point field goals made (2.2) and free throw percentage (78.9), sixth in minutes played (30.3) and 10th in scoring (14.4 ppg.).

The Wichita Wildcat Classic will pit K-State and Gonzaga against each other for the fourth time, including the third in the last four seasons. The Wildcats are 2-1 all-time against the Bulldogs, winning 66-64 at home in the Postseason NIT on March 22, 1994 and 81-64 in the semifinals of the CBE Classic at the Sprint Center on November 22, 2010 before dropping a 68-52 decision in the State Farm Battle in Seattle at KeyArena on December 15, 2012.

This will be the Wildcats’ second game at the three-year-old INTRUST Bank Arena and the first since dropping a dramatic 85-80 double-overtime game to West Virginia before a sold-out crowd of 15,004 on Dec. 8, 2011.

Single-game tickets for the Wildcats’ nine-game Big 12 home schedule, along with the 2-game Holiday and 5-game KU Mini-Plans for the defending Big 12 champions, are currently on sale and can be purchased in a variety of ways, including toll free at (800) 221.CATS (2287), online at www.kstatesports.com/tickets and in-person at the Athletics Ticket Office located in Bramlage Coliseum.
