K-ROCK to Air Pep Rally Live

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State will hold a pep rally for its Sweet 16-bound men's basketball team on Monday night at Bramlage Coliseum beginning at 6 p.m. The event will air live on Manhattan Broadcasting's 101.5 KROCK.

The event, which is sponsored by the K-State Alumni Association and the athletics department, is open to the general public with doors to the West side of the arena opening at 5:45 p.m.  Fans are encouraged to sit in the west side chairback seats. 

Emceed by the Voice of the Wildcats, Wyatt Thompson, the pep rally will include performances by the K-State pep band, cheer and Classy Cat squads and Willie the Wildcat, followed by remarks from athletics director John Currie, Student Government Association vice president Wayne Stoskopf, head coach Frank Martin, senior guard Chris Merriewether and junior guard Jacob Pullen.

Beginning at 4 p.m., 1350 KMAN will air its weekly program "Wildcat Insider" live from Bramlage Coliseum as Thompson, Matt Walters, Brian Smoller and Tim Fitzgerald discuss the week that was in K-State Athletics and what lies ahead for the Wildcats in the Sweet 16.

Following "Wildcat Insider" on 1350 KMAN will be the first installment of "The Brad Hill Show" live from Misty's Sports Bar & Grill hosted by Smoller and Walters. The head coach of K-State's 15-3 baseball team will provide his thoughts on the start of the 2010 campaign and what the team can expect heading into Big 12 action this weekend.  

The second-seeded Wildcat basketball team earned their 17th trip to the Sweet 16 and first since 1988 on Saturday night with an 84-72 victory over No. 17/16 BYU at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City.  The squad opened the NCAA Tournament with an 82-62 win over 15-seed North Texas on Thursday afternoon.

No. 7/7 Kansas State (28-7) will play No. 6 seed Xavier (26-8) on Thursday at EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. The contest will tip at 8:37 p.m. (CT) and can be heard on the K-State Sports Network.
